Data Privacy Policy

We, Numida Technologies Canada Limited and all its subsidiaries (Numida Technologies), are the company that owns, develops, and operates the mobile software application Numida and its associated financial and advertising services (the “App”). We respect your privacy and ensure that all information that you enter in your Numida account is treated confidentially and is processed in accordance with this Data Privacy Policy. The purpose of this document is to let you know what information we collect when you use Numida, how we use it, who we share your information with, and why, as well as where your information is stored.

Personal data is defined as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (called a data subject) who can be directly or indirectly identified in particular by reference to an identifier such as name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier, or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.

As a data subject, you have the following rights, which we will always work to uphold:

  1. The right to be informed about our collection and use of your data. This privacy policy should tell you everything you need to know, but you can always contact us to find out more or to ask any questions.

  2. The right to access the personal data we hold about you

  3. The right to have your personal data rectified if any of your personal data held by us is inaccurate or incomplete

  4. The right to be forgotten, i.e., the right to ask us to delete or otherwise dispose of any of your data that we have.

  5. The right to restrict (i.e., prevent) the processing of your personal data

  6. The right to object to us using your data for a particular purpose(s).

  7. The right to data portability. This means that, if you have provided personal data to us directly, we are using it with your consent or for the performance of a contract, and that data is processed using automated means. You can ask us for a copy of that personal data to re-use with another service or business in many cases.

If you have any cause for complaint about our use of your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Agency.

  • The personal and business information that you enter when you register to Numida and throughout using Numida includes your name, phone number, and images of you and your business

  • The transaction information that you record using Numida

  • Information about how you use Numida, such as the frequency and duration of your activities on Numida

  • The communications between you and Numida Technologies about Numida

  • Information about the devices where you install or access Numida, depending on the permissions you’ve granted. Examples include technical attributes of the devices such as the operating system and hardware version, and how you are accessing the Internet

  • Location information. We may also use GPS technology and other location services to determine your location. You can withdraw your consent at any time by logging out and uninstalling the app from your device.

Numida Technologies is passionate about helping its customers access affordable financing to grow their businesses and a simple financial record-keeping tool to help them better manage their businesses. We use all of the information we have to help us:

  • Provide and improve our services. We will use all of the information that we have to ensure that Numida and our services are meeting the needs of our users. We use this information to determine whether or not to provide a loan to a user, the amount of the loan, and the terms applicable to the loan. We also use the information to improve the features and usability of the App.

  • Improve the technology supporting the App to improve its convenience, efficiency, and security.

  • Communicate with you. We use this information to respond when you contact us and when we communicate with you about our service.

  • Show targeted advertisements and measure their effectiveness. We use this information to improve our advertising and measure the level of interest that it generates to ensure that it is relevant to you.

  • We use your data for the necessary performance of a contract with you, because you have consented to the use of your data, or because it is in our legitimate business interests to use it.

We store data until it is no longer necessary to provide our services or until your account is deleted, whichever comes first. This is a case-by-case determination that depends on things like the nature of the data, why it is collected and processed, and relevant legal or operational retention needs under the law. Your data is only accessed internally on a need-to-know basis, and it will only be accessed or processed if necessary.

We may disclose some or all of the data that we collect from you when you download or use the App to credit reference bureaus. The purpose of this is to verify your credit history if you apply for a loan so that we can consider it in our loan decision, and if you receive a loan, to deter and discourage you from defaulting on the repayment of the loan.

Your information may be shared with and processed by staff operating inside or outside of your jurisdiction who work for us or for one of our suppliers. These staff need access to all of the information that we collect about you, as they may be engaged in providing you with personalized support and processing your loan applications. These staff members are contractually obligated to treat your data confidentially and securely under this Data Privacy Policy. By using and submitting your data on the app, you agree to this sharing and processing of your data. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and under this privacy policy.

Besides sharing your data with credit reference bureaus, staff, and suppliers, we do not share information that personally identifies you unless you give us your permission in writing or unless we are under a duty to do so to comply with any legal or regulatory obligation or request. Personal information is information like your name, business name, phone number, or email address that can by itself be used to contact you or identify who you are.

We may work with third parties that pay us to issue advertisements on Numida, providing us with revenues that make it possible to offer our services free of charge to our users. In any such case, we shall ensure any such data is transferred securely and following best practice in your jurisdiction. We and our advertising partners want the advertisements on Numida to be relevant, interesting, and ideally helpful for you or your business. With this in mind, we use the information that we have about you and your business to show you advertisements that meet these goals. We do not share your personal information unless you permit us. See the definition above for Personal Information.

If you want to know what personal data we have about you, you can ask us for details of that personal data and for a copy of it (where any such personal data is held). This is known as a “subject access request”.

All subject access requests should be made in writing and sent to the email or postal addresses. We do not charge for a subject access request but if your request is ‘manifestly unfounded or excessive’ (for example, if you make repetitive requests) a fee may be charged to cover our administrative costs in responding.

We will respond to your subject access request within 30 days and, in any case, not more than one month of receiving it. Normally, we aim to provide a complete response, including a copy of your personal data within that time. In some cases, however, particularly if your request is more complex, more time may be required up to a maximum of three months from the date we receive your request. You will be kept fully informed of our progress.

All Numida Data is stored in a secure Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) within Amazon Web Services.We will only store or transfer your personal data to countries that have adequate data protection standards/laws.

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to and stored outside of your jurisdiction. We do this in order to keep our costs at a minimum while maintaining high security standards.We will only store or transfer your personal data to countries that have adequate data protection standards/laws.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to the App, and any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorized access.
